About Us

Dance from the Heart is a 501 ( c ) (3) nonprofit corporation organized for charitable purposes with the aim of utilizing multi-cultural performing and visual arts to elevate global awareness and support for caregivers who work to alleviate human suffering.

  • We began in 2005 with a benefit for the relief of victims of the Southeast Asia tsunami, through Oxfam America.
  • In 2007, we established our non-profit status and continued to provide assistance by donating proceeds to Lighthouse Houston and the Alzheimer's Association.
  • In 2011, the proceeds of our production were donated to Amazing Place, to provide care scholarships for families in need.

We provide contributing dancers the opportunity to receive continuing education through Artist In Residence Programs, ongoing classes and workshops designed to deliver focused, intense instruction over a short period of time. We encourage community relations, public outreach and awareness by donating time and talent to local events whose underlying mission shares our goals.

The 4th Quarter of 2010 brought a new Intern Program, designed to assist college students seeking a degree in Dance or Theater.  We are extending that Internship to include students studying business, focusing on the nonprofit sector.  If you are interested in being considered for an internship, please contact our Secretary, Andrea Parks-VanDyke:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 2012 brings new and exciting growth for DFTH.  The addition of five new board members during our annual retreat introduces new skills and ideas to our organization.
