While technique and combinations from multiple forms of dance are a part of the learning experience in dance theatre class, the real purpose of this instruction is to take you beyond your technique to focus on the elements of performance.
Designed for dancers with at least two years experience in bellydance (though other forms of dance provide a good foundation as well), you will work with many of Ayana's challenging combinations and drills, as well as the inclusion of storytelling in your dance. Learn to take a Middle Eastern dance vocabulary into a theatrical environment, and how to incorporate a fusion vocabulary to enhance and accent your existing technique.
You will also learn the structure of the choreography and how utilizing elements of dance along with components of the Delsarte technique* add complexity and depth to each piece; utilize theatrical exercises to emotionally connect to your music and character; learn how to tell your story within your character and utilize your own experience to communicate with the audience. Learn blocking and staging techniques to make all of your performances riveting.
Registration for this class is by audition/consultation only. Those that have already been accepted to this class may complete registration by visiting: http://www.dfth.org/class_registration.htm
